      What Is Cataract?

A cataract is generally a cloudiness that affects the transparent crystalline lens of the eye. The lens of the eye is what enables us to focus on objects effectively and a cataract hinders this process. Even though surgery for cataract can be delayed for a long period of time and sufferers are able to see with the help of visual aids, surgery is still the only known cure for this visual ailment up to date when the disease is in its latter stages.

      Ultra Cataract Treatment

We at New Vision Eye Center in Dubai provide an initial consultation where the patient can visit our clinic and meet a specialist doctor to have a better understanding about ultra cataract treatment, in order to make an informed decision. We also offer second opinions and post procedure care.

      What is the procedure like?

The surgery takes up to 15 minutes depending on the individual patient. The eye surgeon will use a laser to soften the cataract and break it up, enabling it to be removed more gently. Ultrasound energy makes the precision of accessing and removing cataract ten times more accurate than conventional methods.

You can go home within two hours of first arriving at the clinic. Initially, you vision may seem blurry but this is temporary and will quickly settle down in the first two days. Patients should practice post operative care, however, you can get back to normal activities like reading, watching television or writing. You will be ready for prescription glasses within two weeks of ultra cataract surgery.

      Benefits of Ultra cataract surgery:

First and foremost, your vision will improve greatly. The cloudy and blurriness will cease and in place you will have perfectly, rectified vision. Ultra cataract is intended to improve optical clarity. Ultra brings new levels of safety, predictability and accuracy to cataract surgery.

      Ultra Phaco Cataract Treatment

If you are suffering from poor vision due to cataract, Ultra Phaco cataract surgery is the best alternative to correct your vision. It is also called stitch less surgery. The treatment is performed as an outpatient procedure. It is painless and bloodless. The incision is very small and will take little time to heal. There is absolutely no discomfort whatsoever. The infection rate is very low. Post surgery precautions are minimal with faster healing and recovery time.

What is Ultra Phaco procedure like?

In Ultra Phaco, the hard cataract is broken by the ultrasound power into minute pieces. It is then sucked out through an incision which is very small – approximately 1.5-2.8mm. A foldable lens is then implanted.

There are 5 renowned treatment types for cataract available in our clinic.

      They are
      • Ultra Cataract Treatment
      • Ultra Phaco Cataract Treatment
      • Phacoemulsification
      • Extracapsular Cataract Surgery
      • Intracapsular Cataract Surgery

The soft construction allows the lens implant to be folded for insertion through a 1.5 to 2.8 mm micro incision. Once the lens is in place, it unfolds to a regular size which is at 6 mm. The entire procedure takes up to 5-8 minutes. The removal of cataract takes just 2 minutes.

If you've had conventional cataract treatment in one eye, you can still opt for Ultra Phaco surgery on the second eye.

Phacoemulsification is the most sought after form of cure for cataract in Dubai and is a procedure that is performed in less than 30 minutes. It consists of the removal of said cataract in order to ensure that the lens is restored to its usual crystalline state.

      Learn More About Cataract Treatment

When you hear the word cataract, you will immediately hear the terms older people and eye problems, but not much else. This is not surprising as cataract doesn’t impact your eyes until you are well into your 60s, making it seem insignificant for you to pay attention to when you are younger. For some, you may be straining or squinting due to cataract and not even know it.

When your eye's natural lens starts clouding it is usually the first sign of cataract. Cataract is something that happens with getting older. Every person will experience this condition at some point in life. Cataract causes blurring of vision. It impairs the light which focuses on the retina helping you to see.

      Common Symptoms:

      – Unusually bright glare at night
      – Foggy vision
      – Difficult to recognize colours
      – Changes in glass prescription

There are different types of cataract.

      – Senile cataract due to aging
      – Congenital cataract occurred at birth
      – Traumatic cataract due to injuries in the eye
      – Cataract due to steroids

There is no medicine with proven efficiency to prevent cataract or treat it. The most effective treatment is surgical procedure. You do not have to wait for cataract to mature to undergo surgery. In addition, health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension will not prove to be an obstacle for the surgery.

Cataract can be genetic or develop as a result of an infection due to pregnancy, with infants in particular. It can also be a result of glaucoma or because of certain injuries. Prolonged use of eye drops, inhalers, exposure to X-Rays, UV rays and even radiation can lead to cataract formation.

Cataract can develop in just one eye. This is common, especially if you’ve experienced a trauma or blow in one eye.

You will need to have a Visual Acuity test to assess if cataract has impacted your vision. You will be asked to read an eye chart from a certain distance. After which, an eye surgeon will examine your cornea, lens and iris to check for abnormalities.

Depending on the severity of the condition, surgery will be recommended. Cataract surgery is one of the safest surgeries in the world. Don’t panic, it has a success rate of 96%. If you’ve been putting off surgery because of fear, It is good to know that there are almost no risks involved with this surgery.

If you are concerned about the healing process, it's different from person to person as each patient will heal differently from the other. In most cases, you can return to a normal routine post surgery within 3 days. It will take up to 6 weeks for you to be able to focus fully with the lenses. It is a learning process for your eyes to focus on objects at different distances.
